PixCell deer

I've been trying to spend more time at the Met, being that I live within (long-ish) walking distance and it is one of the eminent museums of the world and whatnot. Last week I visited the PixCell deer, which usually gets a fair amount of ooh's and ahh's from visitors.

Despite walking past it a couple times before, I never noticed that there's an actual taxidermied deer under there. I also took this photo before reading the placard, but apparently the pose and the setup with the window may be a reference to a certain genre of Japanese deer painting. Cool.
